What do you say to someone who has been more than a friend?  What do you say to someone who every week for almost eighteen months has come into your home and played with your child?  What do you say to someone who has used all their training, expertise and experience to help your child climb mountains-- not merely milestones, but Everests when you consider the barriers and challenges that are his as a child with disabilities.  What do you say to someone who has cheered your child on in times of triumph or distress?

I don't know how to thank you Erica, Kristina, Noelle and Laurie . . . I don't know what to say.

I tried to express my feelings in a poem I wrote for our final team meeting on Dec. 12, 2007.  I gave each of Georgie's therapists a photo of him with a copy of this poem on the back:

When you look at this picture, I want you to know
There’s a boy named George, who loves you so.
Though he can’t say the words, he’d show it the way
His eyes lit up when you came to play.
He’d ask you to dance for you are his friend
And though your playtime is at an end--
He’ll hope it’s you when there’s a knock on the door,
For there’s a place in his heart that will always be yours.
