Rachel's Rave

Life is a glorious mixture of the precious, the mundane, the sorrow and the joy. Thank God that everything we experience has both its season and its purpose. In my blogs I hope to share stories that balance "A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." (Eccl 3:4).

He Heard My Prayer

God is good at answering prayers. We are not always good at recognizing the answers. God is merciful to me and it seems that at the times I need it most his hand is visible and the answers are real.

To Later

This last September, Samuel was in his very first Primary Program. I was so excited to see my little "sunbeam" on the stand participating with the other children in our church.

He Talks to Me

When people speak of their eagerness for a second child, they often mention that it'll be fun for child number one to have a brother or sister to play with. For the first two years of George's life, I mourned the fact that George barely took any notice of Samuel and that the two weren't able to "play" together the way two typically developing brothers should have.

I caught Joshua smiling at something recently, and it took me by surprise because he had never smiled and cooed and kicked excitedly during a diaper change.

Teaching George

I love to teach, and I feel that being a mother is the greatest and most important teaching experience I'll ever have. I want to teach my children to love life, people and this beautiful world. I want to teach them to sing and to dance and to be happy. There are so many things I want my children to know, but at the heart of it all, I want them to know God.

Blankets

When Samuel was born I thought and thought about the kind of man I wanted him to become. It didn't take me long to realize and articulate that what meant the most to me was that my son learn to be kind, compassionate, caring and full of love.
