Jimmy and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary last Friday. It was a wonderful day because we began a new family tradition-- we had our first "Family Birthday." We borrowed/stole the idea from Joe and Hiedi (our Texas Heidenreich family), and you are welcome to steal the tradition too. We told Samuel and George that this was the day Mommy and Daddy got married, and so it is our family's birthday. We had a special cake with five candles on it, sang "Families Can Be Together Forever" and opened one family birthday gift. The gift itself was simple and only cost $8. Samuel loved our party.
This is just one fun little way we can promote family togetherness and help our children learn the significance of marriage.
