This morning I read in Parent's Magazine that we often unwittingly assign gender roles to our children. I must admit to being a culprit in this, but what I do teach him is not done consciously because we live in a day and age of so much gender confusion that I think it is OK to help kids out where we can. The other day we were walking in Target searching for a Rubber Duckie for George and we went isle by isle. When we arrived at a very pink isle filled with Disney Princess toys, Samuel pointed his little finger and said "Oooh look Mommy. This is girls toys!" I smiled and concurred. We then turned a corner and there were two lovely play kitchen stove sets. Samuel jumped up to where they were and said, "Oooh look Mommy. This is boy toys!" I smiled. Samuel and Daddy have spent many enjoyable hours together baking yummy cookies and making a mess for Mommy to clean up.

Re: Boy Toy
So cute! Everytime I enter the shoe aisle, Daniel immediately takes off his shoes and starts trying on the coolest shoes he can find (typically pink and sequinned). :-) I have a hard time directing him to the boy shoes.
