When Samuel was born I thought and thought about the kind of man I wanted him to become.  It didn't take me long to realize and articulate that what meant the most to me was that my son learn to be kind, compassionate, caring and full of love.  Those are the things I value most, and they are the qualities I most admire in his Daddy.

The most joyful and precious moments for me these past four years have been when I've witnessed these character traits taking root and yielding fruit in Samuel's life.  Samuel has had two and a half years to learn to serve and help the people around you . . . he's learned it most being a big brother to our son George.  Recently, I've been able to wrap my arms around Samuel and tell him that God needed a very special brother for George . . . and that God chose Samuel because He knew that Samuel would love him no matter what.

Samuel has also been a godsend for me.  He gives me kisses when I look to stressed or a hug when he senses I need it.  And when I lay down on the couch, exhausted and worn out, Samuel says, "Mommy I get you a blanket!"  Then he comes and lays a soft blanket on top of me.

It's summertime now, and much to warm in the house for blankets . . . but I didn't remove the one he put on me today.  No way!  I need that warmth and sunshine in our home no matter how hot it gets!
